The All India Congress Committee in-charge for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Girish Chodankar, has underlined the importance of not discussing in public, the party’s expectations and demands related to seat sharing with the DMK and about being part of the coalition government in Tamil Nadu. Speaking at a meeting of the party’s elected representatives in Sathyamurthy Bhavan, Chennai on Monday, Mr. Chodankar directed the leaders not to discuss alliance matters in public.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K. Selvaperunthagai said this direction from the AICC would hopefully put a full stop to party leaders making these demands public. “He has asked us not to make any criticism and also not to destabilise the alliance,” he said.

Mr. Selvaperunthagai further said, the TNCC would launch its campaign for the Assembly elections soon after Deepavali.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chodankar told journalists that the TNCC would conduct programmes to further highlight the issue of ‘Vote Chori (vote theft)‘.

“The EC is neither investigating ‘Vote Chori’ nor taking any steps to stop it. Every person should have the Right to Vote and no one should be allowed to vote multiple times. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has raised this issue on behalf of the people of India and they are convinced that the Election Commission of India in alliance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is encouraging ‘Vote Chori’. They are the protectors, custodians of democracy, but the EC is not doing its job. The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee is conducting a campaign in this regard in every Assembly constituency… and our village and block committee members are all involved in the efforts,” he said.
