Ahead of Jubilee Hills by-polls, police seize ₹25 lakh unaccounted cash

On Monday, a surveillance unit enforcing Model Code of Conduct for the Jubilee Hills Constituency intercepted a vehicle and seized ₹25 lakh unaccounted cash.

According to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation official, the cash was seized from Jairam Talaria, a resident of Visakhapatnam, while he was traveling towards Yousufguda near Sarathi Studios in Ameerpet.

The West Zone police in Hyderabad said they have have seized ₹65 lakh in cash during security checks till now.

The operations, which began on October 6, involved 10 check posts across the zone. In addition to the cash, officers recovered 256 litres of liquor and public distribution system (PDS) rice and wheat valued at ₹48,000. No gold was seized during the inspections, officials confirmed.

Police said the checks are part of a wider effort to prevent illegal activities and ensure a smooth conduct of the by-polls in the city.
