The data centre is one of the largest investments being made by the California-based big tech company in India, says N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The Andhra Pradesh Government is all set to sign a landmark agreement with Google for the establishment of a 1-GW data centre in Visakhapatnam, during Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to New Delhi on October 14.

Speaking to the media persons at his camp office on Sunday, Mr. Naidu said it was one of the largest investments being made by the California-based big tech company in India.

The Google data centre would transform the Port City into a global data hub and give a fillip to the government’s initiatives in Artificial Intelligence (AI). It was targeted to be completed by the end of 2029, he said.

Keeping in view the growing penetration of AI into businesses, and even the people’s lives, the government would tweak the curriculum in educational institutions to make youth future-ready, the Chief Minister said.

Together with the steel plant being set up by Arcelor Mittal-Nippon Steel in Anakapalli district and the BPCL refinery coming up at Ramayapatnam, the Google facility would make Andhra Pradesh a prosperous State in a few years down the line, Mr. Naidu added.
