A public service institution in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district, which has launched measures to wean the youth away from cybercrimes in the Mewat region, has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention for creation of employment opportunities.

The Samriddh Bharat Abhiyan has pointed out that unemployment is the biggest issue confronting the youth in the region, as they lack technical expertise in the absence of educational institutions and the cultivable land has dwindled because of continuous divisions.

The expansion of an industrial area at Jurehra village near Deeg would speed up economic development of the region, create employment opportunities on a large scale for the local youth and facilitate social reforms in the long run, Abhiyan’s Director Sita Ram Gupta said here on Friday (October 10, 2025). It was originally developed by the State government in an area spread over 40.67 acres.

In a letter addressed to Mr. Modi, Mr. Gupta said the industrial area, situated only 100 km away from New Delhi, had a huge potential for pickle, oil expeller and corrugated box units as well as flour mills and oil refineries. Some clusters for marble, chindi durries and honey have come up at Jurehra over the years.

“While a huge labour force is available in the Mewat region because of the widespread unemployment, the establishment of a university in Deeg and opening of polytechnic colleges in each block will help improve technical skills of the youth and make them employable,” Mr. Gupta said.

The Samriddh Bharat Abhiyan has launched several initiatives for people’s welfare in the Mewat region and taken the local Meo Muslim community into confidence to disengage the youth from the crimes such as cyber frauds, gambling and cow slaughter. Mr. Gupta said the positive results had started to emerge, with the crime rate displaying a downward trend.

Mr. Gupta said the job opportunities in the region would help bring the youngsters to the mainstream of development, while institutional support for the traditional works such as poultry farming and pisciculture would bring prosperity to the families.

“About 250 poultry farming units in Mewat supply chicken and eggs to the National Capital Region, while the fisheries produce 500 metric tonnes of fish and support the livelihoods of thousands of people,” Mr. Gupta said.

The Abhiyan has also shot off a letter to Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, drawing his attention to its work for constructing a model police station at Garhi Bajna in Bayana sub-division, which had enabled the police personnel to perform their duties efficiently. Mr. Gupta said the police could help in the long-term development of the region with an effective control of crimes.
