Bengaluru, in the last year alone, added more than 7 lakh new vehicles to its roads, IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge said on Friday.

On the day he attended a mobility symposium titled “Beyond Decongestion-Redesigning Urban Mobility for India” here on Friday, organised by MoveInSync, a technology firm, the Minister said on X, “Today, Bengaluru has over 1.2 crore registered vehicles — nearly 82 lakh two-wheelers and 25 lakh cars. Some 58,913 new vehicles were registered in August, 2025, alone.’‘ He said that the city’s mobility story reflected both its success and its challenges.

“We are one of the fastest-growing cities in the world, with our GDP projected to grow at over 8.5% annually for the next decade,’‘ the Minister wrote on the platform. While these numbers were a reflection of a growing city it was also an indication of why city roads were bursting at the seams,” he stated, adding that the government is addressing these challenges.

The 2025 edition of the mobility symposium brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and civic innovators to advance sustainable, inclusive, and future-ready urban transport in India.
