Bapatla district police on Thursday arrested a habitual burglar involved in multiple daytime house thefts across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and recovered stolen property valued at approximately ₹8 lakh.

District SP B. Umamaheswar informed that the Bapatla CCS team nabbed the accused, Kodirekka Vijay Kumar, 32, of Yadlapadu village in Palnadu district, at Medarametla Bypass Junction near Addanki.

Briefing the media, CCS DSP P. Jagadeesh Naik said the accused had previously been remanded in connection with eight theft cases in both the Telugu states. He had recently carried out a series of six burglaries under the Addanki, Santamaguluru, and Martur police stations limits, targeting locked houses during the daytime.

Police recovered gold ornaments worth ₹5.7 lakh, silver ornaments worth ₹30,000, cash of ₹1.15 lakh, and a motorbike worth ₹70,000 from his possession. The accused, a daily wage worker, reportedly resorted to thefts to fund his personal habits.
