A portable ultrasound scanning machine was seized by a joint team headed by the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr Kalavathi Bai during a surprise inspection in Khammam town on Wednesday.
The surprise inspection by the team comprising the officials of the health and police departments unearthed illegal use of the portable ultrasound scanner by two persons, official sources said.
A First Information Report under the relevant sections of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) Act, 1994, has been registered at Khanapuram Haveli police station. Further investigation is underway.
