The delay in the process to transfer of her vote to either Kovvuru or Sithanagaram led to reject her nomination by October 24

The nominations filed by AP Tourism Development Corporation Director Ganta Swaroopa Rani for Kovvuru and Sithanagaram Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) seats in East Godavari district have been rejected, citing the absence of her vote in the final list of votes in the two (Kovvuru and Sithanagaram) mandals

Ms. Swaroopa Rani is the Jana Sena Party (JSP) aspirant for the East Godavari Zilla Parishad chairperson’s post.

The ZPTC elections are being held using electoral rolls which the cut-off date is January 1, 2026.

Ms. Swaroopa Rani had exercised her franchise in the Rajamahendravaram rural constituency in during the 2024 general elections.

East Godavari Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer and ZPTC Election Returning Officer M. Raju told The Hindu; “Ms. Swaroopa Rani had applied for transfer of her vote (from Rajamahendravaram rural) to Kovvuru and Sithanagaram mandals. However, the transfer process of her vote had not been completed in both the mandals by October 24, making it ineligible to accept her nomination papers for the ZPTC election.”

Ms. Swaroopa Rani has applied for the transfer of her vote either to Kovvur or Sithanagaram mandals hoping to contest from whichever mandal the transfer process is done before the deadline for the scrutiny of the ZPTC nominations.
