The United Democratic Front (UDF) government in Kerala and the CPI(M) are adopting a common stand to protect former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the CMRL-Exalogic payoff and hawala cases, and the recent Supreme Court verdict has exposed the alleged understanding between the Congress and the CPI(M) in corruption cases, BJP national executive member P.K. Krishnadas said on Thursday (October 22, 2026).

Addressing the media in Kannur, Mr. Krishnadas said the Congress and the CPI(M) were working together to protect Mr. Vijayan from corruption allegations, thereby undermining people’s mandate.

He questioned what special rights the former Chief Minister enjoyed that were not available to ordinary citizens. The government and the UDF leadership should explain what else their position could mean if not an attempt to protect Mr. Vijayan, he said.

The Congress should clarify its position on the developments in the case and demonstrate political honesty and courage to speak openly, he said.
