Superstar Rajinikanth’s film Jailer 2 has been released in theatres, and its climax has generated considerable buzz among audiences. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film had expectations similar to those surrounding the 2023 blockbuster Jailer. Filled with action, deception and a struggle to save his family, the story takes several twists that keep audiences engaged until the end. The biggest surprise is the entry of Vijay Sethupathi, who appears in the film’s final portion.
The unanswered questions in the climax have also fuelled speculation about a possible Jailer 3. However, the makers have not yet officially announced a third instalment.
What happens in the climax of Jailer 2?
In the film, Rajinikanth once again plays Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. This time, he faces an idol-smuggling gang that has turned his life and family upside down. Mithun Chakraborty, who plays Chakri Kalpak, plots a dangerous scheme to eliminate Muthu. Muthu’s daughter, Kantha, played by Vidya Balan, is also affected by this conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Bodhi, played by SJ Suryah, believes that his father and sister are dead. He then attempts to escape on a private plane but is stopped by Muthu and his associates, Narasimha, Mathew and Kamadeva, played by Shivarajkumar, Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff, respectively. With this, the fight against the smuggling gang reaches a decisive turning point.
Why does Muthu surrender after securing his family’s safety?
When Muthu believes his family is safe from the threat posed by the smuggling mafia, he surrenders to the police. He confesses to murdering his son, Arjun, and even tells the police where the incident took place. The police handcuff him and take him before his family, but the story does not end there.
A police officer hands Muthu a phone on which he receives a message from his daughter, Kantha. She is injured and appears to be in a wheelchair. The scene challenges Muthu’s belief that he has completely secured his family’s safety. Although the message appears normal, the underlying suggestion is that the danger is far from over.
Vijay Sethupathi’s entry comes as a surprise
The most unexpected moment in the climax comes when the police officer asks Muthu to respond to the message. He also jokingly suggests that Kantha might get angry if Muthu does not reply. As the officer turns around, it is revealed that he is being played by Vijay Sethupathi.
His entry adds another layer of mystery to the story, leaving the future of Muthu and his family uncertain. The unresolved twist leaves viewers wondering what could happen next.
Will Jailer 3 happen?
The film’s ending leaves room for a potential sequel. Kantha’s message and Vijay Sethupathi’s entry suggest that Muthu’s story may not be over. However, the climax alone does not confirm that Jailer 3 is in the works. The makers have yet to make an official announcement about a third instalment.
