Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta on Friday (October 9, 2026) directed the senior departmental officials to lay emphasis on advanced planning of mobilisation of resources and identifying trouble mongers, in order to ensure fair and peaceful conduct of the local body elections.

Addressing a meeting of the Superintendents of Police in the Rayalaseema range, the DGP directed them to be watchful of the movement of liquor, cash, goodies, and weapons under their jurisdiction.

Apart from mooting enhanced surveillance in trouble-prone villages and sensitive booths, Mr. Gupta told the Superintendents to take pre-emptive action on mischief mongers and rowdy sheeters.

Advocating the need to embrace technology, he wanted them to get the situation under their control by liberally using the services of drone cameras, CCTV network, and the command control system.

The DGP advised them to conduct ‘Palle Nidra’, ‘Grama Sabha’ and cordon & search operations in sensitive wards/villages to identify and cleanse the localities of anti-social elements.

Additional DGP (Law & Order) Madhusudhan Reddy, Inspectors-General of Police Semushi Bajpayee (Anantapur range), Koya Praveen (Kurnool range), Deputy Inspector-General (Kurnool) Vikrant Patil, Superintendents of Police L. Subbarayudu (Tirupati), K. Sri Dheeraj (Annamayya), Tushar Dudi (Chittoor), Nachiket Shelke Vishwanath (Kadapa), P. Jagadeesh (Anantapur) and S. Satish Kumar (Sri Sathya Sai) took part in the meeting.
