The Madras High Court Registry has lodged a complaint with the Greater Chennai Commissioner of Police in connection with its proceedings having been forged to get five Bangladesh nationals, lodged in a special foreigners camp at Attur in Salem district, deported to their country.

Appearing before Justice V. Lakshminarayanan, the High Court’s standing counsel S. John Raja Singh reported that a complaint on behalf of the Registrar General Deepthi Arivunithi was lodged with the Chennai city police on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) in compliance of the court orders.

Bilal alias Mohammed Bilal Syed, Y. Salim and Bimal Sutrada alias Laxman Das had filed three individual writ petitions in the High Court seeking a direction to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Chennai as well as the State police to take steps for deporting them to their country.

Substantiating their claim, the petitioners had submitted copies of official proceedings supposedly issued by the Registrar (Judicial) of the High Court on October 8, 2025 granting clearance for deportation of five Bangladesh nationals to their home country and insisted that they must be sent back forthwith.

Shocked to come across such proceedings, Justice Lakshminarayanan had on September 1, 2026 directed the High Court Registry to verify whether it had issued any such proceedings. The Registrar (Judicial) submitted a report on September 8, 2026 stating it was a forged document.

Additional Public Prosecutor Arun Anbumani told the court the petitioners had also annexed a document purportedly issued in favour of them by the Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services but the officer had confirmed that no such document had been issued by his office.

Central government standing counsel M.P. Jaisha, representing the FRRO, told the court that a complaint regarding forgery of government documents had already been lodged with the Central Crime Branch police in 2025 and that a First Information Report too was registered.

After recording their submissions, the judge had directed the High Court Registry to lodge a police complaint with regard to forgery of its proceedings. On being told the complaint was lodged on October 6, the judge called for a status report from the police by November 10, 2026.
