A 51-member youth delegation from Madhya Pradesh has concluded its six-day visit to Karnataka under Yuva Sangam Phase VII, an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, launched under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme.

The delegation visited Karnataka from September 28 to October 3. The visit provided the participants an opportunity to experience the State’s cultural heritage, educational institutions, scientific and technological achievements, traditional crafts and agricultural practices.

The Central University of Karnataka (CUK) coordinated the programme as a nodal institution.

The delegation began its tour in Bidar, where the members visited the historic Bidar Fort, Gurudwara Nanak Jhira Sahib and Bidri craft centres. They also interacted with Padma Shri awardee and Bidri artisan Shah Rasheed Ahmed Quadri and learnt about the history, architecture and traditional Bidri craftsmanship of the region.

In Bengaluru, the delegates visited the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, where they were introduced to management education, scientific innovation and technological development.

The delegation also visited Lok Bhavan and interacted with Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. The Governor spoke about the State’s cultural traditions, historical heritage and tourist destinations and explained the functioning of Lok Bhavan and its role in public administration.

The delegates subsequently visited the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) and the Mission Operations Complex in Bengaluru. They were briefed on India’s space programme, including Gaganyaan, Chandrayaan and NISAR, and the development of indigenous space technologies.

In Kalaburagi, the delegation visited a toor dal processing unit and learnt about pulse production and processing, the agricultural economy of the region and the significance of the GI-tagged Kalaburagi Tur Dal. The visit also provided the participants insights into the relationship between agriculture, local livelihoods and regional economic development.

The visit concluded with a valedictory and cultural programme at the CUK, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Battu Satyanarayana. Registrar R.R. Biradar and Dean of Law and Students’ Welfare Basavaraj Kubbakadi were present.

The CUK students presented classical performances, while the Madhya Pradesh delegates showcased traditional and tribal dances. The participants also shared their experiences of Karnataka’s culture, heritage and traditions.

The programme was organised by M. Siva, nodal officer, Yuva Sangam Phase VII, CUK, and coordinated by Jagadish Biradar. The delegation left for Madhya Pradesh on October 3, carrying memories of its Karnataka visit and strengthening the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat through cultural exchange, youth interaction and national integration.
