Telangana Rakshana Sena president K. Kavitha has opposed the use of concrete in the development and expansion of the Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulwada, saying it could affect the temple’s structural longevity.

Addressing the media in Vemulawada in Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday, she said the historic shrine, known for the famous Kode Mokku tradition, had deep religious and historical significance and a hoary past.

She said Krishna Shila (black stone) should be used for the temple’s expansion and development, strictly in accordance with Agama Shastra traditions, so that the structure would endure for centuries.

She also raised concerns over the condition of the temple’s kodelu (bulls), which are associated with the Kode Mokku tradition.

She alleged that some of the kodelu were dying due to inadequate facilities and fodder and that proper last rites were not being performed in accordance with religious traditions.

“Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay should respond to the plight of the Vemulawada temple’s kodelu and focus on ensuring adequate fodder and their proper upkeep,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ms. Kavitha demanded ₹1 crore in compensation, three acres of land and a government job for one member of each affected family of 2017 Nerella incident.

She further alleged that Rajanna Sircilla district continued to face inadequate irrigation facilities despite development claims by successive governments.

Ms. Kavitha said the Telangana Rakshana Sena would work for the rights of surrendered Maoists and welcomed former Maoists to join the party and participate in public service.
