KSTDC to launch ‘Mayura Ruchi on Wheels’ at major tourist destinations

The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) will launch ‘Mayura Ruchi on Wheels’, its first mobile food service initiative, to provide tourists with quality and hygienic food at major tourist destinations across the State, Energy, and Tourism Minister K.J. George said.

The initiative aims to take the food and hospitality services of KSTDC’s Mayura Hotels beyond hotel premises and closer to tourists at high-footfall locations, according to a release issued on Saturday.

In the first phase, KSTDC plans to deploy food vans at Hampi, Madikeri, Jog Falls, Mysuru, Nandi Hills and key tourist locations in Bengaluru. The mobile food units will serve breakfast items, snacks, meals and selected regional specialities from different parts of Karnataka.

KSTDC currently operates 24 Mayura Hotels across the State. According to the corporation, some of these hotels are located away from the main tourist zones, making it difficult for visitors to access their food services. The mobile food vans are intended to bridge this gap by taking Mayura’s offerings directly to popular tourist spots.

“A good tourism experience must also include access to good food. Through ‘Mayura Ruchi on Wheels’, we want to take the taste and quality of Mayura Hotels directly to visitors at major tourist destinations,” Mr. George said.

He added that the initiative would promote Karnataka’s regional cuisine, create employment opportunities and contribute to additional revenue for KSTDC.

KSTDC Chairman M. Srinivas said that the corporation is taking up such a mobile food service initiative for the first time. He said, “Preference would be given to local dishes, which could also create employment and business opportunities for local communities.”
