Five transgender persons were arrested by the police on Thursday on charges of ‘extorting’ money from passengers at the bus station in Adilabad town.

Of the five accused, three are from Adilabad district and two are from Maharashtra.

According to the police, the accused allegedly demanded money from passengers at the bus station on Wednesday (September 30), causing nuisance and disturbance on the bus station premises.

Following a complaint lodged by the bus station manager, the Adilabad Two-Town police registered a case under Section 308 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and arrested the five persons.

Further investigation is underway.
