Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan has called for a meeting of floor leaders of the Upper House on Tuesday (October 7, 2025).

This will be his first formal meeting with the floor leaders of various parties. Earlier, he had an informal chat  with some of them who were in Delhi on September 12, the day he took oath as the 15th Vice-President.

A total of 34 leaders have been invited for the meeting, including Leader of the House and Union Minister J.P. Nadda, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, and his two deputies, Arjun Ram Meghwal and L. Murugan.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House, is likely to skip the meeting as he is recuperating after undergoing heart surgery to insert a pacemaker. Trinamool Congress’s Rajya Sabha parliamentary party leader Derek O’ Brien will also not be present due to a prior commitment.
