The cross examination of two BRS MLAs — Gudem Mahipal Reddy and Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy — accused of defecting to the Congress concluded in the presence of Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad on Saturday.

Advocates representing the BRS petitioners questioned the MLAs who apparently said that they met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for constituency development and they have not to defected as alleged. The advocates presented video footage and media clippings of the MLAs with the Congress leaders on various occasions.

So far eight out of the 10 MLAs facing defection allegations submitted affidavits affirming their continued loyalty to the BRS. Kadiyam Srihari and Danam Nagender are yet to submit their affidavits. BRS legal cell chairman Bharat Kumar said the proceedings saw evidence submission and cross-examination.

The next hearing will be on October 24 after Speaker Gaddam Prasad’s visit to Barbados for a conference of Speakers. The Supreme Court asked the Speaker to take a decision on defection accusations before October 30.
