Minister for Social Justice Vanni Arasu inaugurated a village knowledge centre (VKC) built at a cost of ₹1.31 crore at Munnur near Marakkanam in Villupuram district on Saturday.

Officials of the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Corporation, which will maintain the facility, said the centre would provide skill training, digital literacy, and community -based learning to residents, especially Adi-dravidar youth, in villages

Funded under the NABARD scheme, the Centre consisted of an administrative office, a skill training hall, a computer lab, a library, training rooms, an instructor’s office, and toilets. It would also be used to conduct regular meetings by self-help groups.

Officials said the Village Knowledge Centre would play a crucial role in enhancing access to education, skills training, and economic opportunities for the local community.
