Ravneet Bittu claims attack on his cavalcade near Punjab’s Batala

BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu on Friday (September 18, 2026) claimed that his cavalcade was attacked allegedly by AAP workers near Batala in Punjab when he was on en route to attend his party’s anti-drug yatra in Pathankot.

Mr. Bittu claimed that over 100 AAP workers targeted the cavalcade, and hurled stones and eggs at it.

“A window pane of two escort vehicles broke. They also damaged the jammer vehicle,” Mr. Bittu alleged.

Giving further details of the incident, Mr. Bittu said the attack took place when his cavalcade slightly slowed down.

“In the entire episode local police acted as a mute spectator,” he alleged.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Batala, Mehtab Singh could not be reached for his comments.

The BJP leader told reporters that if anything happens to him or those accompanying him, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the state DGP will be responsible. “I have brought the incident to the notice of the Union Home Ministry,” Mr. Bittu, the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, said.

Mr. Bittu was on his way to Pathankot to attend the anti-drug yatra, which is being launched by BJP president Nitin Nabin.

His security team has reportedly apprehended three individuals.
