A 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death and another minor injured following an altercation during a Ganesh idol procession in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, police said on Tuesday (September 15, 2026).

According to the police, the incident took place around 9.30 p.m. on Monday (September 14, 2026) in Musakhedi area under Azad Nagar police station limits following an argument between some boys in a Ganesh Chaturthi procession.

Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya told The Hindu that the deceased has been identified as Krishna Panwar, 16, and his friend Sahil Rathore, 15, has sustained knife injuries.

Mr. Dandotiya said that Mr. Rathore is out of danger now and teams have been formed to nab the accused, all a 16-year-old.

He said that an FIR has been lodged in the matter under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 103(1), 109(1), 118(2), and 296(b).

As per the FIR, the argument took place when the accused pushed the victims during dancing in the procession which led to an altercation after which he stabbed the two boys with a knife.

Mr. Panwar suffered knife injuries in his chest and taken to MY Hospital where he was declared dead, the FIR said.
