The Department of Radiation Oncology at Christian Medical College (CMC) has organised the 16th Annual Conference of the Indian Brachytherapy Society (IBSCON 2026) at its campus in Vellore.

According to a press release, the conference, which was inaugurated by Vijay Anand Reddy, senior consultant and director, Apollo Cancer Hospital, Chennai, was centred on the theme ‘Re-imagining Brachytherapy in Comprehensive Cancer Care: Precision, Personalisation, and Compassion.’

The scientific programme featured a series of lectures, expert panel discussions, debates, and interactive sessions highlighting recent advances and innovations in brachytherapy.

Delegates actively participated by presenting original research, challenging clinical cases, and innovative treatment approaches, fostering a vibrant exchange of knowledge and professional networking.

A hands-on cadaveric workshop focused on brachytherapy techniques for head and neck cancers and soft tissue sarcomas provided participants with practical, experience-based learning under expert guidance.

The conference brought together 287 delegates, faculty members, and trainees from across India, including office-bearers of the Indian Brachytherapy Society, the release said.
