The Palarivattom police have booked six suspected Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly staying in the city without valid travel documents.

The accused are Ibrahim Howlader, 29, Sakeer Khan, 50, Mohammed Arif Howlader, 29, Mohammed Unus Khan, 41, Joshana Begum, 30, and Hadiullah Khan, 31, all allegedly from Morrelganj in Bagerhat district of Bangladesh, according to the first information report.

The police apprehended them from a rented house at Vennala along with two children, aged nine and two-and-a-half years, of a couple among the six accused, in the early hours of Wednesday.

Police sources said they suspect that the accused have been staying and doing casual works in Kochi for the past one year. They were booked for illegal entry under the Immigration and Foreigners Act.

The Kochi City police had arrested 16 suspected Bangladeshi nationals in two separate incidents in June.
