BRS MLCs Tata Madhu and Naveen Kumar Reddy, arrested by police in the morning, were suspended from the Legislative Council for the remainder of the session over alleged derogatory comments about Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.
Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu moved a resolution to suspend them, and the House adopted it unanimously. The Chairman of the Legislative Council, Gutha Sukender Reddy, announced the suspension of the two BRS MLCs and adjourned the session. The Council’s action was based on a resolution passed by the Legislative Assembly earlier, and sent to the Council.
Protesting against the suspension, other BRS MLCs raised slogans against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy outside the House.
Earlier, Health Minister Damodar Rajnarismha moved a resolution demanding action against the two BRS MLCs and it was seconded by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar was not in the Chair but protec Speaker Kadiyam Srihari was in the chair when the motion was moved.
KCR should take responsibility
The resolution also said that Leader of the Opposition K. Chandrashekhar Rao should own responsibility for the said unbecoming conduct of the members of his party and tender unconditional apology to the Speaker in the interest of institutional integrity, decency and decorum of the House.
The resolution further said, “This House records its strongest condemnation and profound disapproval of the highly derogatory, insulting and unparliamentary utterances purported to have been made by Sri Tata Madhusudhan and Sri N. Naveen Kumar Reddy, both the Members of the Telangana Legislative Council belonging to BRS Party, on 07.09.2026 within the Assembly precincts near Gate No 3 against the Hon’ble Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly.”
The resolution also condemned the indecent behaviour of the two members for removing the t-shirts in public before women which, besides being highly objectionable, amounts to outrage of the modesty of the women present at the place of the incident.
The resolution also said that no political disagreement, personal grievance, or difference of opinion can justify conduct intended to, or having the effect of, lowering the dignity and authority of the Presiding Officer.
