Two people were killed and three others sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Bengaluru on Sunday.
In the first incident, a 63-year-old autorickshaw driver was killed. The accident occurred near the ISKCON temple in Mahalakshmi Layout, involving a KSRTC bus, lorry and an autorickshaw. The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Muktiyar. Two passengers travelling in the autorickshaw sustained minor injuries and are undergoing treatment.
According to the police, the accident occurred around 6 p.m. when a lorry coming from behind allegedly rammed the autorickshaw. The impact caused the vehicle to lose control and collide with the KSRTC bus that was ahead of the autorickshaw. The driver died on the spot.
The Malleswaram Traffic police conducted an inspection and registered a case. Further investigation is under way.
Motorcyclist run over
In another accident, a 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he reportedly fell off his vehicle onto the road and was run over by a lorry, in Kengeri on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Chetan, 36, a resident of Kengeri. According to the police, Chetan was returning home from work on his motorcycle when he allegedly lost control and fell onto the road. A lorry coming from behind ran over him, killing him on the spot.
The Kengeri Traffic Police conducted an inspection and registered a case. Further investigation is under way.
