In a move aimed at expanding the market reach of Karnataka’s renowned handicrafts across India and overseas, the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (KSHDCL) will launch an upgraded e-commerce portal soon.

According to KSHDCL officials, the portal is being developed and is proposed to be launched during the upcoming Ganesha festival. H.R. Rajappa, MD, KSHDCL, said: “The existing e-commerce portal was developed in 2012. The new platform is being designed not merely as a visual upgrade, but also to make it customer-friendly.”

Customised Product Option

Mr. Rajappa said one of the key features of the new portal will be the ‘Customise Product’ option. Customers will be able to submit specific requirements relating to size, design, colour, material, engraving, personalisation, quantity, and packaging. The facility can also be used for corporate gifting and special event requirements.

The new portal will showcase a wide range of Karnataka handicrafts on a single digital platform, including sandalwood, rosewood, Bidriware, Channapatna lacquerware, Kinhala toys, Mysore traditional paintings, Ganjifa art, metal crafts, and handloom and textile products.

Meanwhile, Rohini Sindhuri, Secretary, MSME, Mines and Textiles Departments, said: “Through the new portal, we aim to increase the annual online sales of Cauvery Handicrafts Emporium, the flagship store of KSHDCL, to ₹5 crore within three years, while creating new market opportunities for artisans and providing wide variety of options to consumers.”
