State Teachers’ Awards, Srestha Vidyalaya Puraskaram announced in Keralam

The Keralam government has announced the winners of the State Teachers’ Awards for this year and the newly launched Srestha Vidyalaya Puraskaram for the best schools in the State. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Minister for General Education N. Samsudheen said the State Teachers’ Awards would be given away in five categories.

The winners of the State Teachers’ Awards in the lower primary category are Abdul Azees I, head teacher (Malappuram); M.G. Geethamma, head teacher (Pathanamthitta); Joshi D. Kollannur, head teacher (Thrissur); Susan Kuruvila, head teacher (Pathanamthitta); and Kannan S., head teacher (Kollam).

In the upper primary category, the winners are Janil John, primary teacher (Thrissur); Abdul Ali M.C., upper primary teacher (Malappuram); Johnson V.J., head teacher (Palakkad); Siddique Hassan A., head teacher (Malappuram); and James V., head teacher (Kozhikode).

In the high school category, Sunil Kumar K.P., Malayalam teacher (Kannur); Ali Akbar V.P., high school teacher (Malappuram); Vinod Kumar K., head teacher (Kannur); Sirajuddin P.T., Natural Science teacher (Kozhikode); and Rajesh M., Mathematics teacher (Palakkad) won the awards.

The awards in the higher secondary school category go to Bindu P. Subhash, Sociology teacher (Malappuram); Bhaskaran P., Malayalam teacher (Palakkad); Babu Mathew, principal (Pathanamthitta); Sreeja K., Botany teacher (Kozhikode), and Sunil Kumar K., Malayalam teacher (Kollam).

The vocational higher secondary awards have been bagged by Jinesh A., principal (Malappuram); Sameer Siddiqui P., vocational instructor (Kasaragod); and Satheesh T.V., vocational teacher in accountancy and auditing (Thrissur).

Srestha Vidyalayam Puraskaram

The Srestha Vidyalayam Puraskaram, announced as part of the 100-day programme of the State government, will be given away from this year in three categories, the Minister said.

In the primary category, the top three winners are GUPS, Beemapally, Thiruvananthapuram; St. Philomena’s UPS, Mallappally, Pathanamthitta; National LP School, Edavaka, Wayanad. In the secondary category, Government Boys HSS, Manjeri, Malappuram, bagged the first position. Mount Carmel HSS, Kottayam, came second, followed by GHSS, Chavassery, Iritty, Kannur.

In the higher secondary category, the awards for the best three schools have gone to Chakkalakkal HSS, Madavoor, Kozhikode; GHSS, Kamballur, Kasaragod; and St. George HSS, Vazhathope, Idukki. The school that bagged the top spot in each of the three categories will get a cash prize of ₹5 lakh, while the next two schools in each category will get ₹3 lakh and ₹1 lakh, respectively.

The State Teachers’ Awards and the Srestha Vidyalaya Puraskaram will be given away at Kandamkulam Jubilee Hall, Kozhikode, at 10.30 a.m. on September 5 (Saturday). The revamped website of the General Education department will be inaugurated on the occasion, the Minister said at a press conference here on Tuesday.
