Class VII student celebrates Raksha Bandhan in an eco-friendly manner

Demonstrating her commitment to a greener future, young environmental enthusiast Blessi from Suddala village in Rajanna Sircilla district celebrated Rakhi Pournami in an eco-friendly manner.

Blessi, a Class VII student of the State-run Gurukul school at Baddenapally, tied handmade paper rakhis to dozens of trees in and around her house on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on Friday.

She performed the ritual before tying a rakhi to her brother at home, highlighting the bond between siblings as well as her commitment to protecting greenery.

A recipient of several awards, Blessi said Raksha Bandhan was not only an occasion to celebrate the bond between siblings, but also an opportunity to pledge to protect trees that provide oxygen and offer several ecological benefits.

“We should take a pledge to plant, nurture and protect trees for a greener world,” she said.
