Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday (August 27, 2026) hailed the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) as a landmark initiative that has transformed the way people conduct financial transactions, as the country marked 10 years of the digital payments platform.

Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s post on X, Mr. Naidu said UPI had become an integral part of everyday life, making financial transactions simpler and more convenient for people across different sections of society.

“Speaking from my own experience, UPI has completely transformed how Andhra Pradesh and India deal with money every single day,” the Chief Minister said.

He said the platform had seamlessly integrated into the lives of ordinary citizens, enabling easy and effortless transactions for street vendors, women entrepreneurs, small business owners and students.

Mr. Naidu described UPI as an example of India’s growing technological strength and said its success had demonstrated the country’s digital prowess to the world.

“Congratulations to every Indian on 10 years of UPI! A landmark initiative that showcases India’s tech prowess to the world,” he said in the post, using the hashtag #10YearsOfUPI.

The Chief Minister’s remarks come as UPI completes a decade of operation, during which it has emerged as one of the world’s largest digital payment systems. From small roadside vendors and neighbourhood shops to major businesses, the platform has significantly changed the way Indians transfer and receive money, reducing dependence on cash and making instant digital transactions a routine part of daily life.

UPI’s widespread adoption has also helped bring small traders, self-employed workers and other sections of the population into the rapidly expanding digital economy.

Mr. Naidu said the impact of the platform could be seen in Andhra Pradesh as well, where digital payments have become increasingly common in everyday transactions.

By highlighting its accessibility and ease of use, the Chief Minister said UPI represented a major technological achievement and a significant step in India’s journey towards a more digitally connected economy.
