In an organisational reshuffle, the Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (LJP-RV), an alliance partner of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), on Wednesday (August 26, 2026) appointed Surender Vivek as the party’s Bihar president, replacing long-time State chief and MLA from East Champaran’s Govindganj, Raju Tiwari.
Mr. Vivek, who is currently not a legislator, contested the 2025 Assembly election from the Sahebpur-Kamal constituency of Begusarai district, but was defeated by the Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate, Satanand Sambuddha, by more than 15,000 votes.

Mr. Tiwari was the LJP(RV)’s Bihar president from June 2021 to August 2026. In the current reshuffle, he has been made the LJP(RV)’s national general secretary. The LJP(RV) now has 12 national general secretaries, including Mr. Tiwari. Rajesh Verma, MP from Khagaria, has been made the national treasurer.
Mr. Chirag Paswan remains the LJP(RV)’s national president, and chairperson of the party’s Central Parliamentary Board. Abdul Khaliq has been appointed national secretary general.

The party has selected eight national secretaries, and 11 national presidents for different cells, including Samastipur MP Shambhavi Chaudhary as the LJP(RV)’s national youth wing president. Three permanent invitees and six national vice-presidents have also been appointed.
With Assembly elections coming up in various States, the party has also sought to restructure its State-level leadership. Party leaders have stated the intention to contest in the Assembly election in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, due early next year. The party has appointed Rajeev Pasi as its working president in eastern and central U.P., and Pawan Kumar Verma as its president for western U.P.
While it won 19 out of the 28 seats it contested in the 2025 Bihar Assembly election, the LJP(RV) failed to secure any seats in the 2022 U.P. Assembly election. The party has four Lok Sabha MPs in Parliament — Arun Bharti (Jamui), Veena Devi (Vaishali), Shambhavi Chaudhary (Samastipur), and Rajesh Verma (Khagaria).
“Heartfelt congratulations to all the newly appointed national office bearers of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and best wishes for a successful tenure,” Mr. Chirag Paswan said in a social media post.
