MCR TIMS Sanathnagar sees 600 outpatients daily, surgeries likely to begin soon

The Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (MCR TIMS) Sanathnagar in Hyderabad is receiving around 600 outpatients every day, with surgeries expected to commence soon after the sterilisation of its intensive care units (ICUs), operation theatres and critical medical equipment is completed.

MCR TIMS director Narendra Kumar shared the update during the inaugural meeting of the hospital’s executive council, chaired by Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha, on Tuesday.

Dr. Kumar said the hospital is currently providing necessary medical services to the outpatients and has also begun conducting day-care procedures. “ICUs, operation theatres, diagnostic equipment and other critical medical devices are undergoing comprehensive sterilisation as part of preparations for starting surgical services,” he added.

The executive council approved the adoption of NIMS service rules for the recruitment of doctors and other staff at the hospital. It also approved the implementation of the tariff structure currently followed by NIMS. “Adopting the NIMS tariff structure would provide a comprehensive system of charges from the hospital’s inception, ensure uniformity between the State’s two premier medical institutions and help facilitate better financial planning,” the council said.

It also approved arrangements for banking services to manage the hospital’s financial transactions through a Trust and Retention Account (TRA).

Several infrastructure proposals were approved to improve facilities for patients, attendants, doctors and staff. These include the construction of a multi-level car parking facility to address parking constraints and an additional toilet complex for patients’ attendants.

The council also approved the construction of hostels for postgraduate students following the government’s decision to establish a PG medical college at MCR TIMS on the lines of NIMS.
