Recurring accidents at Champakkara: Kochi Mayor to convene emergency meeting

The Kochi Corporation will intervene and take necessary measures to avoid recurring accidents near Kochi Metro pillar number 955 at Champakkara, assured Mayor V.K. Minimol.

An emergency meeting of traffic police, Kochi Metro Rail Limited and PWD officials will be held in this regard, she said. On Monday (August 24), Ms. Minimol visited the site where yet another two-wheeler accident claimed a life on Sunday midnight (August 23). Around 10 persons have been killed in accidents at the spot in the last two-and-a-half years.

A woman identified as Sona, a native of Pathanamthitta, was killed in the midnight accident. She was riding pillion. Navaneeth, a resident of Puthiyakavu, who rode the two-wheeler, remains admitted with injuries in a private hospital.

Mayor was accompanied by Corporation Development Standing Committee chairperson Shakrita Sureshbabu, and councillors V. P. Chandran and Xavier P. Antony.
