Over 56,000 students get provisional allotment after third round of counselling for engineering admission in T.N.

At the end of the third round of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 counselling session, a total of 56,294 candidates have been given seat allotments.

A TNEA press release said in the general category, 48,501 students got provisional allotments while 6,183 students who opted for upward mobility were given tentative allotments. Similarly, in the horizontal reservation category (7.5% reservation for government school students), 1,172 students were given provisional allotments while 438 secured tentative allotments.

Students who secured provisional allotment are require to report to the respective colleges and complete the admission process on or before August 27, 2026. Correspondingly, students who got tentative allotments are required to visit the TNEA Facilitation Centre (TFC) as provided in their option, surrender their certificates, and pay the tuition fees mentioned in the allotment order on or before August 27. In this way, their current seat would be confirmed while enabling upward movement in case better seats open up after the admission process is over.

The TNEA committee has warned students who do not report to the designated college or the TFC within the stipulated time will have their seats cancelled. Those seats will then be pooled back into the process and allotted to those who have opted for upward mobility and have completed the formalities at the TFCs.
