The vice-president of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Sekar Viswanathan, was honoured with the Academic Excellence Award 2025 by the Institution of Engineers (India) for his contribution to academic excellence in higher education.

According to a press release, the award was presented to Mr. Viswanathan at the 58th Engineers Day celebrations, which was organised by the Institution of Engineers in Ranipet, the release said.
