The Kasu Brahmananda Reddy National Park in Hyderabad turned into a giant rotary for traffic on Tuesday (August 18, 2026) at 6 a.m. as the traffic police implemented a one-way vehicular flow on the six-lane stretch that girdles the park. Motorists on Road No. 3 from Banjara Hills travelling towards Jubilee Hills Checkpost had to compulsorily take a left turn near the traffic signal.

The first change was felt by morning walkers who drive to the KBR Park from the L.V. Prasad stretch and go straight to find a parking space before beginning their walk. On Tuesday (August 18) morning, they had to take a left turn at the signal and search for a parking space before beginning their walk.

At the other end of the road, motorists and school buses streaming in from Yousufguda were directed to go the roundabout way instead of the right turn at the signal. The result: faster movement of vehicles, confusion, hot exchange of words, explanations by police personnel with circular movement of hand.

“There are 200 personnel on the road to guide and implement the rule. Some people are stopping and asking for clarification; others know the change,” said Srinivas Rao, a police official who stood near the JH Checkpost and had the hard task to convince motorists to take a 5-km detour instead of the right turn.

Take a left turn was the rule for all the motorists who used to the road on Tuesday. There were designated lane-switching locations to exit the roundabout.

As the motorway became faster due to uninterrupted flow of traffic, morning walkers and workers who have work places in the area found it tough to cross the road.

The other big change for road users was the U-turn near Filmnagar Junction and the U-turn towards were eliminated leading to reduced travel time for some users.

The one-way arrangement was introduced as a traffic-management measure necessitated by the ongoing H-CITI construction works and the resulting limitation of the carriageway for maintaining smoother traffic movement around KBR Park.

According to police personnel, the staff will be deployed round-the-clock at important locations to guide and assist commuters.
