Elderly woman among two killed in separate accidents

A 65-year-old woman was killed when a car, in a bid to reverse, knocked her down in Chikkabanavara on Monday.

The deceased, identified as Gangamma, a resident of Dasarahalli, had come to visit a temple along with her family. After visiting the temple, she came out and was sitting on the stairs while waiting for her family members.

Meanwhile, a cab driver who had been visiting the temple had parked the car close by and knocked her down in a bid to reverse. Passers-by rushed to her help and shifted the profusely bleeding Gangamma to a nearby hospital where she succumbed later.

The accused escaped with the car soon after the accident. The Chikkabanavara police have registered a case of hit and run accident and efforts are on to track down the accused.

In another incident, a 36-year-old labourer was killed when a speeding truck knocked down his motorcycle he was riding on Madhugiri Road on Monday.

The deceased Hanumantha was returning home from work when the incident occurred. The Dobspet Police have registered a case and are investigating it further.
