Addressing long-standing demands of the public, Minister and Kollam MLA Bindhu Krishna has announced two transport infrastructure development projects scheduled for inauguration on Monday. The initiatives include the inauguration of a temporary Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) office to kickstart the depot’s reconstruction, alongside the launch of a new boat service.
The long-pending demand to reconstruct the dilapidated Kollam KSRTC depot moves forward as the Minister is set to inaugurate the construction of a temporary depot office at the KSRTC garage in the presence of N.K. Premachandran, MP, and Mayor A.K. Hafeez. Following the rapid completion of this temporary office, the existing structure will be demolished to make way for a modern facility built along the scenic shores of Ashtamudi Lake, aimed at providing safer and state-of-the-art facilities for commuters in a time-bound manner.
In addition to the bus terminal redevelopment, the State Water Transport department is expanding its local waterways fleet with a new boat service. Scheduled for inauguration at 9 a.m. at the Kollam Boat Jetty, the boat will operate along the popular route between Kollam and Sambranikodi.
