SCoR Vijayawada division records ₹4,894 crore revenue in first four months: DRM

The Vijayawada division of South Coast Railway (SCoR), which was created recently with Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur and Guntakal divisions, has recorded Gross Originating Revenue of about ₹4,894 crore during the first four months, said Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mohit Sonakiya.

During the Independence Day celebrations, the DRM read out the message sent by SCoR General Manager (GM) here on Saturday. Mr. Mohit Sonakiya said the freight loading touched 32.084 million tonnes, generating around ₹3,343 crore revenue.

Revenue earned on passenger fares was about ₹1,356 crore, and the passenger traffic was around 58.61 million, the DRM said, adding that 76 special trains were operated and 408 additional coaches were attached to the meet the increased passenger demand.

Earlier, Mr. Mohit Sonakiya, hoisted the national flag and received the guard of honour. He participated in the 80thIndependence Day celebrations, along with Additional DRMs Konda Srinivasa Rao and P.E. Edwin, and other senior railway officicals of various department. They paid tributes to the freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives to gain independence.

Later, the DRM presented medals and meritorious certificates to 18 students of Jack and Jill, Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Icon Public School, and Bharat Scouts and Guides, who excelled in essay writing, painting competitions on the topics ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Freedom Struggle’ conducted as part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Family members of railway officials and staff participated in the celebrations.
