The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation (AP Chambers), in association with the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), organised a workshop on the power market for industrial consumers in Vijayawada on Thursday.
The workshop was aimed at industries with a contracted demand of 1,000 kW and above and focused on emerging trends in the power market, procurement strategies, cost optimisation and the advantages of participating in the electricity market.
IEX officials Gaurav Maheswari, Vice-President, Regulatory Affairs, and Surajit Mukherjee, Assistant Vice-President, Business Development, explained recent regulatory developments and various electricity market products and tools.
They briefed the participants on the procedure for registering on the IEX platform, the bidding process and its practical aspects, and the potential benefits of procuring electricity through the exchange.
The officials highlighted how the power exchange provides a transparent and competitive platform for price discovery and enables consumers to have greater flexibility in power procurement. IEX facilitates trading in electricity, renewable energy and energy certificates through an automated nationwide platform.
The organisers said the workshop was intended to help large industrial consumers understand the evolving electricity market and explore opportunities to optimise their power procurement costs.
AP Chambers president Potluri Bhaskara Rao, executive vice-president B. Raja Sekhar and general secretary Subbarao Ravuri participated in the workshop, which was attended by around 70 industrialists from different sectors.
