The inquiry committee report on Justice Yashwant Varma will be tabled in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (August 12, 2026).
In August 2025, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla constituted a committee to investigate the allegations of partially burnt currency notes in an outhouse at Justice Varma’s official residence. The notes were discovered after a blaze in March 2025. Justice Varma resigned from office before the committee gave its report.
Earlier, the Supreme Court rejected a petition filed by a lawyer seeking a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the allegation.
