Kerala University conducted a surprise inspection at the Kerala Law Academy on Wednesday based on complaints that alleged violations of the guidelines issued by the Bar Council of India (BCI)

According to official sources, the university received complaints that the college has admitted 300 students each in two shifts for its three-year LL.B. programme. Besides, it is alleged that no other college in the State conducts an undergraduate law programme under a shift system.

Moreover, the university is investigating whether law classes are being conducted at the law college after 7 p.m. in violation of strict guidelines issued by the BCI.

Based on directions from Kerala University Vice Chancellor in-charge Mohanan Kunnummal, a team comprising Syndicate members R.S. Sasikumar, S. Nazeeb, Ajay Jewel Kuriakose and the Head of the Department of Law, Sindhu Thulaseedharan, conducted the inspection.

The inspection report will be submitted to the Vice Chancellor for further action.
