Majority of farmers back LPS for Amaravati rail, ring road projects, says Narayana

A majority of farmers from Tadikonda and Mothadaka villages have expressed their willingness to opt for the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) for the proposed Amaravati railway line and Inner Ring Road projects, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana said after a meeting with farmers at the Guntur Collectorate on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Tadikonda MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar, farmers from Tadikonda, Kantheru and Mothadaka villages, CRDA Additional Commissioners Bhargav Teja and K. Karthik, Guntur Collector C.M. Sai Kanth Varma and other officials. The discussions centred on land pooling for the proposed railway line, railway station and Inner Ring Road in the Amaravati capital region.

Mr. Narayana and Mr. Sravan Kumar explained the benefits of the land pooling scheme and the returnable residential and commercial plots that would be allotted to landowners under the CRDA policy. Farmers also shared their views and suggestions on the proposed returnable plots.

Mr. Sravan Kumar said farmers from Tadikonda and Mothadaka had supported the land pooling model, while those from Kantheru had sought a meeting in their village before taking a final decision. He said the government would proceed in accordance with the views of the farmers.

Mr. Narayana said the government would discuss land acquisition for the proposed airport at the Cabinet meeting scheduled for August 21. Alleging that some political leaders were unnecessarily politicising the airport project, he said that, if weather conditions remained favourable, the Seed Access Road and Steel Bridge works would be completed within a week. He added that the MLA and MLC residential buildings would be handed over to the General Administration Department in the presence of the Chief Minister on August 13.
