A 35-year-old migrant worker from Chattisgarh was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a tea estate in Aravenu in Kotagiri in the Nilgiris on Monday morning.

According to police, the 35-year-old woman had been employed at a tea estate and factory in Aravenu for the last few months and was living with her husband and children. She had reportedly gone missing on Saturday, prompting her family and other workers to launch a search for her. On Monday, her body was found in a tea field nearby with head injuries.

Both the police and the Forest Department were informed about the incident. The Forest Department conducted a detailed inquiry at the spot to ascertain whether an animal had attacked the woman. As the woman’s body did not show any signs consistent with an animal attack, the police were also informed and her body was taken for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.

The police have registered a case of suspicious death and are conducting further investigations into the incident.
