Heart and lungs donated by a person were transported by Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) from Care Hospitals in Gachibowli to KIMS Hospitals on Minister Road in Secunderabad on Saturday (August 1, 2026). The organs were used for transplantation.

The donor organs were transported by road from Care Hospitals to Raidurg Metro Station, from where they were carried on the Metro to Rasoolpura Metro Station before being taken to KIMS Hospitals.

The Metro leg of the journey covered about 14 km and 13 stations in 25 minutes. The organs were transported from Raidurg at 11.40 a.m. and reached Rasoolpura at 12.05 p.m.

The priority medical transit was arranged to ensure timely movement of the donor heart and lungs during a critical stage of the transplantation process. The operation involved coordination between Hyderabad Metro Rail personnel, healthcare professionals and authorities from the hospitals concerned, officials said.
