A 23-year-old autorickshaw driver was arrested by Vellore North police for reportedly damaging the windowpanes of a public sector ATM kiosk at Kagithapattarai on Arcot Road in Vellore on Tuesday.
The police said the arrested person was identified as L. Gautam, a resident of Kagithapattarai. Initial inquiry revealed that the ATM kiosk was located near three Tasmac outlets.
The police said suspect Gautam reportedly consumed liquor at the kiosk, which does not have security guards, a few days ago. In a fit of rage, Gautam allegedly damaged the glass panels of the kiosk. The incident was recorded by the CCTV cameras at the kiosk.
The police said based on a complaint from the bank, a case was registered. Special team analysed CCTV camera footage. The team managed to nab Gautam from his hideout in the town. The arrested person was lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. A probe is under way.
