EAGLE IGP urges parents to spend time with children

Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) head and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ake Ravi Krishna urged parents to spend time with their children and create a positive family atmosphere at home to prevent them from engaging in vices.

If children are neglected, they may become addicted to vices and spoil their lives, the IGP said. He also urged the parents to keep a vigil on the movements of their children.

Mr. Ravi Krishna, along with EAGLE Superintendent of Police (Operations) K.M. Maheswara Raju, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-Rural) B. Lakshminarayana, Mylavaram Assistant Commissioner of Police P. Ramachandra Rao, participated in ‘Palle Batalo EAGLE’, at Vellaturu village in G. Konduru mandal in NTR District on Sunday.

Participating in an awareness programme against drugs, ganja and other narcotics, the IGP said some students, who were booked in drug peddling and consuming cases, were spending time in jails and ruining their lives.

“EAGLE is coming to the villages to interact with the village folk, community elders, youth, students and the parents. I request all the mothers to join hands and make Andhra Pradesh a drug-free State,” Mr. Ravi Krishna said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Maheswara Raju said that EAGLE sent a few drug addicts to de-addiction centres and was taking all measures to put an end to the smuggling of ganja and synthetic drugs.

“EAGLE has been conducting raids in trains, near education institutions, medical shops to stop drug peddling, and formed EAGLE Clubs in schools and colleges. Persons having any information on drug smuggling may dial 1972 and alert the officers,” Mr. Maheswara Raju said.

Later, the Police, Education, Revenue, EAGLE and other departments officers enquired the villagers about any problems they had in Vellaturu and the neighbouring villages.
