The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in a statement on Saturday (July 25, 2026) condemned Delhi police, accusing them of detaining, intimidating or preventing protestors from reaching the protest site at Jantar Mantar. In the statement CJP demanded that, “the Delhi Police immediately cease and desist from unlawfully detaining, intimidating or preventing citizens from reaching Jantar Mantar and refrain from creating an atmosphere of fear and siege around Jantar Mantar.”

CJP stated that “the Delhi police appears to have chosen the path of intimidation.”

CJP accused police of detaining protestors before they can reach Jantar Mantar and preventing water, food and supplies of other basic necessities from reaching the protest site.

“This is nothing short of laying siege to Jantar Mantar. Jantar Mantar is not a prison. It is not a military zone. It is India’s designated place for democratic dissent,” the statement reads.

Addressing the Delhi Police Commissioner, CJP appealed that directions be issued to all police officers, “to cease and desist from unlawfully detaining, intimidating” and to stop obstructing the supply of food and essential items from reaching Jantar Mantar.

Earlier in the day, CJP national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka also accused the Delhi Police of preventing food and other necessary supplies from reaching Jantar Mantar. Mr. Ranka said in an X post , “Do whatever you want to. You cannot stop people from coming to Jantar Mantar. You cannot stop people from having food. You cannot stop people from helping us.”

Mr. Ranka shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp chat claiming that the Delhi Police visited restaurants and threatened them for making orders for the protestors at the Jantar Mantar site.

The same screenshot mentioned that police have set up checkpoints about 5 k.m. from Jantar Mantar, where students heading to the demonstration are allegedly being detained, adding that police also recorded Aadhaar numbers of students visiting the protest site.

Mr. Ranka reiterating CJP’s “non-negotiable” demand of the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, said, “you cannot stop Pradhan’s resignation. He is going.” A two-member delegation of the CJP is expected to meet the Union Ministers for a third round of talks on Saturday (July 25, 2026).

Dear @DelhiPolice,

Do whatever you want to. You cannot stop people from coming to Jantar Mantar. You cannot stop people from having food. You cannot stop people from helping us.

Most importantly, you cannot stop Pradhan’s resignation. He is going. pic.twitter.com/mxJuPOws0J
