The Payyannur police have launched an investigation into an incident in which a shed attached to the shrimp farm of T. Purushothaman, a recipient of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research’s Jagjivan Ram award, was allegedly set on fire by unidentified persons near the Chankurichal railway bridge at Payyannur.
The fire was noticed on Thursday (July 23, 2026) morning by workers who went to feed the shrimp. The incident resulted in loss worth several lakhs. No one was inside the shed at the time of the incident.
