Three members of a Hyderabad family were killed and two others critically injured in a road accident in California, United States, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Nazia Salma, 45, her 19-year-old daughter Neha Shaikh and her 14-year-old son Omar Shaik. The family hailed from Vani Nagar in Saidabad.

Nazia’s husband, Shaik Abdul Naveed, and their five-year-old daughter, Khadeeja, sustained serious injuries in the crash and are undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Family members said Naveed is in a coma.

According to relatives, the family had gone on a drive after the children expressed a wish to visit Salt City in California when the accident occurred. United States authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

The tragedy has left relatives and residents of Vani Nagar in shock. “We have lost three members of our family in the fraction of a minute,” a relative told the media in Hyderabad.

Family members said they are awaiting updates on Naveed’s condition before deciding on the future course of action.
