The State Government has resolved to conduct a detailed enquiry into the alleged irregularities of the integrated land records management system Dharani introduced by the previous Bharat Rashtra Samiti government.
The Government has decided to constitute a special enquiry team to examine in detail the operation of Dharani right from the date on which the tender was issued on October 29, 2020, till the launch of the portal and its operations. The decision follows the complaints over lakhs of acres of land being put in the prohibited list and lands belonging to favoured few getting cleared during the previous Government.
The State Cabinet, which met here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday announced that the decision was taken after an elaborate discussion on the issue to bring out the facts pertaining to the irregularities. “We want to ascertain what the lapses were and who was behind the back-end of operations,” Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said while briefing the media after the meeting.
The Government had already ordered a forensic audit by Kerala Security Audit and Assurance Centre, which probed the transactions in Siddipet and Medak districts on a pilot basis, and the inquiry was extended to the remaining parts of the State. The Government had entrusted the management of the Bhu Bharati portal, which replaced Dharani, to the National Informatics Centre, making changes in the software and reducing the modules from 32 to six. “The enquiry team will be asked to probe into every detail of Dharani including its operation and maintenance,” he said.
